Golnoosh Nour

I am an Iranian-British published poet, fiction writer, and educator.

My debut short story collection, The Ministry of Guidance was shortlisted for the Polari Prize in 2021, and my debut poetry collection Rocksong was shortlisted for the Polari Prize in 2022.

My pamphlet Impure Thoughts was shortlisted for the Live Canon Pamphlet Competition. My work has also appeared in Granta, Columbia Journal, and the Penguin/Vintage Anthology 100 Queer Poems.

I have read my poems and commissions at numerous literary events and festivals in the UK and internationally, including at the Royal Festival Hall, the V&A, and the ICA. I teach both poetry and prose on the Creative Writing MA at Birkbeck

As well as writing poetry, I have also translated Persian poetry into English, particularly the works of the Modernist Persian poet Forough Farrokhzad (1934 – 1967).
